Perimenopause and Menopause Naturopathic Care
Navigating hormonal health can be overwhelming. Coping with perimenopause and menopause can feel like herding cats. One month your sleep changes, the next your cycle becomes predictably unpredictable, and suddenly your body seems to be speaking an entirely new language. Hot flashes, anxiety, mood changes, brain fog, weight changes, joint pain, fatigue, and disrupted sleep are not “just part of aging.” They are signals that deserve thoughtful, evidence-informed care.
As a licensed naturopathic physician in British Columbia, Dr Kellie provides individualized support for individuals navigating perimenopause and menopause with a balanced approach that combines modern medical assessment, naturopathic medicine, lifestyle medicine, and hormone support when appropriate.
Every person experiences hormonal transition differently. Some folks notice subtle changes in as early as their late 30s, while others experience more sudden or disruptive symptoms. The goal is to help patients feel informed, supported, and physically well while reducing symptom burden and protecting long-term health.
Hormone options for Menopause and Perimenopause
As a naturopathic physician licensed in British Columbia, Dr Kellie has prescriptive authority within the scope established by the College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC (CCHPBC).
This means that, when clinically appropriate, she can prescribe certain medications related to menopause and perimenopause care, which may include:
-
Bioidentical hormone therapy (BHRT)
-
Progesterone
-
Estrogen therapies
-
Vaginal estrogen preparations
-
Select non-hormonal prescription options for symptom management
Prescription decisions are made carefully and collaboratively, based on a patient’s health history, symptoms, their goals, laboratory findings, risk factors, and current evidence.
Hormone therapy may not be appropriate for every individual, and careful screening is important. When hormone therapy is used, treatment is monitored regularly and adjusted based on response, tolerability, evolving symptoms, and updated clinical findings.
Some patients prefer non-hormonal approaches, while others want an integrated plan combining conventional and naturopathic therapies. Both paths are valid, and care is tailored accordingly.
Dr Kellie's approach is always grounded in:
-
Current evidence and clinical guidelines
-
Individual risk-benefit assessment
-
Collaborative and informed decision-making
-
Ongoing monitoring and follow-up
-
Respect for patient goals, preferences, and lived experience
If you would like individualized support for perimenopause or menopause, you are welcome to book an appointment to discuss your symptoms, goals, and treatment options.
